Ludwig Haber joined Alden in February of 2008, working initially in what is now the Gas Flow Systems Engineering (GFSE) group. Work with the GFSE group focused on air quality control equipment at power plants and work on fluid structure interaction problems. Exposure to work with the civil hydraulics group at Alden began with an opportunity to write particle tracking software for use in large topographical models. Following this work, Alden provided the opportunity to become more closely involved with nuclear power plant projects, GSI-191 sump strainer testing in particular. Working together with colleagues it was possible to establish Alden as a top tier supplier of flow performance related testing and analysis services, not just for the nuclear industry but a broad range of clients including government and process industries.
Prior to joining Alden, Ludwig Haber earned his B.S., M.S. and PhD degrees from Virginia Tech. His graduate work was focused on combustion dynamics which plagued early dry low NOx combustion systems in gas turbines due to a coupling between fluid dynamics and heat-release. After finishing his studies Ludwig joined General Electric at their Global Research Center in Niskayuna, New York. There he was able to work on applying flow control technologies to a broad range of applications including: fan aeroacoustics, gas turbine exhaust performance, F404 exhaust noise reduction and synthetic diamond film production.
