Traceability and Quality Assurance

Traceability of Alden’s Materials and Test Equipment (M&TE) is based on a series of artifacts traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) used as Master Standards for mass, time, temperature, and differential pressure.

Quality Assurance
The Flow Measurement Group at Alden maintains a quality system designed to exceed the requirements of ANSI /NCSL Z540-1-2994 "Calibration Laboratories and Measuring and Testing Equipment - General Requirements." The Nuclear Users Procurement Issues Committee (NUPIC) conducts regular audits of the Quality Program, and Alden is approved to conduct commercial grade calibrations for the nuclear industry.

The following quality principals are adopted:

  • Traceability to NIST
  • Artifacts traceable to NIST are the basis of all M&TE calibrations
  • Commitment to accurate, complete, and independent data
  • Maintenance of the highest level of professionalism and integrity in employees, methods, and practices
  • Continual improvement of methods and techniques through education, employee suggestions, and new technology
  • Openness to external review of Alden's Quality Program and Test Conduct
