CFD Engineer

Alden Research Laboratory, Inc. is seeking exceptional candidates with a strong background in applied computational fluid dynamics for the position of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Engineer within the Hydraulic Modeling Group in its Holden Massachusetts office.  The Hydraulic Modeling Group uses a combination of laboratory scale-model testing and numerical modeling to solve a wide range of both civil and mechanical engineering flow-related problems.  The primary customers are in the municipal water supply and treatment, power generation and manufacturing/process industries.

The successful candidate should have 3 to 5 years of experience and will be able to take projects from the proposal stage to final reporting. The successful individual will be highly motivated to develop solutions for very complex engineering problems requiring the use of cutting edge physical and numeric modeling techniques.  The responsibilities of this position include proposal preparation, cost estimating and scheduling, model generation, problem setup, post-processing, analysis and report writing.  The successful candidate will have creative problem solving skills, particularly in the ability to simplify complex industrial problems so that they are tractable with CFD tools and can be explained to regulators and the end user.  There will be significant customer interaction responsibilities, making written and verbal communication skills important.  The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in business development activities.

Applicants for the CFD Engineer position should have a degree in civil or mechanical engineering with a strong background in computational fluid dynamics.  Knowledge of FLOW-3D and/or ANSYS simulation software and experience involving large-scale flows with free surfaces, hydraulic structures and multi-dimensional two phase flow modeling is preferred.
