Current Opportunities:


Senior Accountant


General Responsibilities:

Applies accounting principles and procedures to record, classify and examine records of financial transactions. Analyzes and interprets financial data and procedures to prepare financial information and reports. Works closely with Project Managers and analyzes the monthly status of each project.


Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop close working relationship with CFO and perform tasks as assigned
  • Develop close working relationships with Project Managers and assist them with their Project set-ups, client billings, reporting and other needs
  • Analyze monthly status for each project to identify risks, potential savings and overruns plus look for opportunities to process change orders from clients for additional work performed or out of scope requirements being met
  • Prepare monthly revenue recognition entry for review based on % Completion Accounting Method
  • Perform and oversee the billings and collections activities for Accounts Receivables
  • Maintain Project contract files
  • Review bi-weekly payroll processing to insure proper recording
  • Maintain the General Ledger
  • Maintain the Fixed Asset Ledger
  • Assist Human Resources with 401K plan as requested
  • Prepare and record standard monthly journal entries
  • Prepare and record monthly adjusting journal entries as required
  • Reconcile all bank statements
  • Prepare Excise and Sales Tax plus Workers Compensation Insurance returns, reports and payments as required.
  • Maintain payroll tax reporting with outside payroll service company
  • Administrate and become the resident expert for the accounting system with heavy emphasis in the project module
  • Maintain New Business and Backlog reporting (including graphs)
  • Perform monthly closings
  • Prepare monthly departmental financial reports for review
  • Distribute monthly departmental reports
  • Prepare schedules and reports as needed for annual audit/review
  • Prepare schedules of overhead costs for various municipalities, government entities, clients or other outside parties and negotiate overhead reimbursement rates
  • Prepare schedules for assisting management with annual salary reviews
  • Assist with preparations and development of annual budgets and input approved budgets into enterprise system
  • Prepare reports and presentations for management as required
  • Maintain history charts and graphs
  • Recommend, draft changes and additions plus maintain Accounting Policies and Procedures manual


Professional Experience:

  • Four year Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a major or specialization in Accounting Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Five years or more experience in accounting in private industry
  • Experience with the Percent Completion Accounting Method for Revenue Recognition helpful, but not necessary
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred


Hydraulic Engineer I

Alden’s Redmond hydraulic modeling laboratory is seeking a civil, environmental, or mechanical engineer with an interest in hydraulic engineering. Typical projects range from upgrades and modifications of existing spillways and dams to water supply, pump stations, and treatment facilities. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with senior staff on truly one-of-a kind projects. 

A successful candidate will assist with 
physical and/or numerical hydraulic modeling projects
analysis and design of hydraulic structures
literature review
data presentation
field studies. 

Work may also include assisting with 
preparation of design and construction documents
performing drafting work in AutoCAD. 

The position will provide the opportunity to be involved with all phases of hydraulic engineering projects including: planning, design, construction, analysis, and presentation. Alden is seeking a candidate with leadership skills and a willingness to take on new challenges in hydraulic engineering. 

BS in civil, environmental, or mechanical engineering or related subjects. Two years of relevant experience or a master’s degree will be considered as a plus. Talented recent BS graduates with relevant hydraulic and hydrologic engineering courses and strong commitment to be an outstanding hydraulic engineer will be considered as well.
