Hydraulic Modeling and Consulting Facilities

Alden maintains two hydraulic modeling and testing facilities located in Holden, MA and Redmond, WA.  These facilities enable Alden to offer a unique combination of physical modeling/testing and computational modeling to our clients.  With the largest hydraulic modeling facility system in North America, Alden can execute multiple projects at any given time while maintaining cost and schedule requirements.  Our extensive facilities include:

  • Over 150,000 square feet of enclosed test space between the two locations
  • A wide variety  of large basins, flumes, and tanks to accommodate models
  • Flow capacities as high as 550 cfs with pressure up to 2500 psi
  • Fully equipped machine, welding, and carpenter shops
  • Instrumentation development and calibration facilities
  • State-of-the-art data acquisition systems
  • Massively parallel scientific computing environment for Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) modeling.
  • NIST traceable instrumentation

Specialized physical modeling and testing facilities at our 32 acre Holden, MA facility include:

  • 100x70x4-foot wave basin for testing shoreline and offshore structures
  • Two 100x4x4-foot tow tanks
  • 100-foot long water flume with 10 ft by 20 ft cross section and 500 cfs flow capacity
  • Stormwater Separator Test Facility
  • Storage tank vortexing facility
  • Scale and Full Size Nuclear Power Plant ECCS Strainer and Fuels test facilities

In Redmond, WA
