Fish Passage Facilities
Alden has performed physical model studies of many of the upstream and downstream fish passage facilities on the rivers of the East Coast.
Connecticut River
- Bellows Falls - 1:10 scale model of fishway entrance and several attraction water supply alternatives
- Bellows Falls - 1:20 scale model of 600 ft of the power canal to study effectiveness of fish guidance device using ice and trash boom
- Cabot Station - 1:30 scale model to evaluate flow conditions in 600 ft of the canal with an increase of flow due to an additional unit
- NU-Alden Weir - 1:8 scale model and an analytical model to design a weir to reduce fish hesitation
- Turners Falls Dam - 1:16 scale model of fishway entrance
- Turners Falls Dam - 1:9 scale model of gatehouse fish ladder and canal entrance gallery
- Vernon Dam - Two 1:10 scale models of a slotted fishway
- Vernon Power Station - 1:30 scale model of louver array fish guidance system
- Wilder Dam - 1:10 scale model of fishway attraction water system
Schuylkill River
- Fairmount Dam, PA - 1:8 scale model of fish passage facility exit, entrance, and ladder
Susquehanna River
- Conowingo Dam - 1:12 scale model of fish lift collection facility and attraction water supply system
- Holtwood Dam - 1:20 scale model of flow patterns external to the entrances of two separate fish lifts
- Safe Harbor Dam - 1:20 scale model of flow patterns in the tailrace near the entrances
- Safe Harbor Dam - 1:10 scale model of internal baffles and turning vanes
- Sunbury Inflatable Dam - 1:12 scale model of flow conditions in the river downstream of the fishway entrance to insure fish attraction
- York Haven - 1:17 scale model to evaluate flow conditions in the river at the fish passage facility entrance to provide attraction water at the entrance
- York Haven - 1: 8 scale model of fishway and attraction water system to ensure acceptable velocitie
