Multiphase Flow Modeling

Multiphase flow is present in a variety of industrial scenarios and systems. In power generation, gas-solid multiphase flows containing a combination of gas and solid particulates appear in pulverized coal delivery systems, circulating fluidized beds, ash capture and control equipment, and activated carbon scrubbing systems. Gas-liquid multiphase flows appear in wet and dry scrubbers, selective catalytic reduction systems, and wet stacks. In the petrochemical industry, gas-solid multiphase flows are extremely common, particularly when catalyst particulates are deployed in order to enhance chemical reactions, such as Fluidized Catalytic Cracker (FCC) units. Gas-liquid multiphase flows are also common, appearing in distillation columns and trays.
